Let me introduce myself

I am an experienced BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist. I have a well established private practice in Totton, Southampton SO40. I have recently moved my practice from central Southampton, where I had been offering therapy and counselling for over eighteen years to individuals.

I understand that when we are feeling anger, grief, depression, confusion or anxiety it can be hard to turn to our family and friends. Coming for therapy and being able to talk honestly to someone outside of our lives can be very helpful and gives you the opportunity to release these feelings and express your thoughts. To go to counselling and seek therapy is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.

I have had the privilege to witness how therapy has changed lives, and highlight that therapy and counselling research shows that the most important factor in gaining results is in the relationship between therapist and client. Therapy works due to the confidence and trust generated in the counselling relationship.

About Counselling

Counselling/psychotherapy is a talking therapy that gives you time and space to discuss your worries and feelings with someone who is not involved in your life.

My approach uses a variety of different methods and insights, such as those drawn from Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

The aim is to work in partnership with you, to help you recognise and gain self awareness.

In this way you become more aware of how your thoughts, feelings and behaviour all interact, which will include looking at significant past and current relationships to help you understand yourself and how you interact with people and situations in your life.

About You

Areas of Specialism

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A therapy that helps you manage problems by enabling you to recognise how your thoughts can affect your feelings and behaviour.

Person Centred Therapy

We work together to understand your experience from your perspective. We will discover your natural self healing process where you decide what you want in your life, trusting your own judgement and living your life in line with your own values, rather than those of others.

Transactional Analysis Therapy

Through therapy we will work together to discover your own problem solving behaviours, whilst helping you to develop skills and tools for finding solutions that work for you.

Management of Depression and Anxiety

During therapy we will spend time uncovering your anxious and depressive thoughts and feelings you experience. You will learn to acknowledge, accept and challenge them so that you can understand the likelihood and reality of these deep rooted thoughts and fears and develop strategies to feel more in control.
